Man Caught Sneaking Overnight at Best Buy for Pokémon Cards Release
A man in Pasadena, California attempted to gain early access to a Pokémon trading card release by hiding inside a store overnight. Police detained him after employees noticed his presence via security cameras.
Caught On Camera
The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Best Buy employees monitoring a live feed observed an unidentified individual moving through the store's aisles. This prompted them to alert the authorities.
Upon arrival, Pasadena police officers entered the building with the help of an employee and discovered 45-year-old Patrick Keys inside.
The Master Plan?
Investigators found no signs of forced entry, suggesting that Keys hid in the store before closing. As fans camped outside for the new Pokémon set release, Keys intended to purchase stock before official opening hours.
