Father Faces Charges for Shaking Baby in Front of His Other Kids

Share Post

A Florida father has been arrested for allegedly abusing his 7-month-old son, leading to a life-threatening brain injury. Anthony Lamar Hester faces charges of aggravated child abuse.

Investigation and Charges

The case began on February 20 when it was reported that an infant was hospitalized with a brain bleed at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. Hester, 31, is accused of intentionally inflicting harm and severe punishment resulting in the child's injuries.

Doctors suspect the injuries resulted from abusive head trauma consistent with shaking. Medical staff alerted child protection services after determining the cause.

Witness Accounts

Family members shared reports of concerning behavior by Hester. Two children witnessed him shaking the infant multiple times. They described seeing Hester scream at the baby in frustration, telling him "boys don't cry."

Further Developments

The child showed signs of distress before being taken to the hospital again on February 18, where new bleeding on the brain was found. The mother stated Hester cared for their son while she worked.

Authorities noted prior incidents involving Hester's anger issues and past domestic violence. He is currently held without bond and is set to appear in court on May 21.
