Florida Couple Discovers Their Child Is from IVF Mix-Up: Heartfelt Response

Share Post

A Florida couple, Tiffany Score and Steven Mills, has identified the biological parents of the baby they gave birth to as part of an IVF mix-up. The discovery comes after genetic tests confirmed their child was not biologically related to them.

Discovering the Mix-Up

The couple used in vitro fertilization at a clinic in Longwood, Florida, with plans to start their family. After their daughter Shea was born, they noticed she displayed characteristics of a different racial background, prompting them to seek genetic testing.

The test results revealed that Shea is 100% South Asian, leading the fertility clinic to investigate several possible cases. Eventually, they matched Shea's timeline with one South Asian couple out of 16 potential candidates.

Matching Biological Parents

This week, it was announced that Shea's biological parents have been identified. Their identities remain confidential as per the news outlet's report. Despite this confirmation, Score and Mills affirmed their unconditional love for Shea.

"This ends one chapter in our heartbreaking journey but raises new issues," said a statement from their law firm. "We will love and will be this child's parents forever."

Ongoing Legal Battle

The legal case continues as court documents indicate that Score and Mills's claim remains uncontested regarding the genetic mismatch. The fertility clinic states it is cooperating in efforts to resolve the situation and identify what went wrong.
