Falcons Star James Pearce Jr. Joins Program After Car Incident

Share Post

James Pearce Jr., a player for the Atlanta Falcons, has agreed to enter a six-month pre-trial intervention program to address charges from a February incident involving his ex-girlfriend. This agreement could prevent him from going to trial.

Pre-Trial Intervention Program

The program requires Pearce to complete therapy, undergo random drug testing, follow NFL drug-testing rules, and avoid contact with Rickea Jackson. Additionally, he must provide a written apology to law enforcement. If any condition is not met, the original charges may be reinstated.

Legal Proceedings

Pearce attended a hearing via videoconference and will return to court next month to finalize the arrangement. Prosecutors approved the intervention after consulting with involved parties, considering it the best option due to Pearce's lack of violent history and the situation's connection to a mental health crisis.

Incident Details

The charges are linked to a February 7 event in Doral, Florida, where Pearce allegedly used his vehicle to hit Jackson's car multiple times as she sought police assistance. He reportedly fled from officers before being arrested.

Jackson had earlier sought legal protection, fearing for her life, which resulted in a temporary protective order being issued by a judge.

The NFL is reviewing the case under its personal conduct policy, and the Falcons have not commented further on the situation.
