Authorities have confirmed the cause of death for Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old whose case gained widespread attention. The investigation progressed significantly after the arrest of singer d4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, who faces charges related to her death.

Rivas Hernandez's remains were found on September 8, 2025, in the trunk of an impounded Tesla in Los Angeles. The vehicle was brought to a tow yard after reports of a foul odor, leading investigators to her body inside bags in the car.

She was reported missing in 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California. Reports indicate she disappeared for the last time in April 2024 and remained out of sight thereafter.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner determined that Rivas died due to multiple penetrating injuries from objects, and her death was ruled a homicide. Dr. Odey Ukpo expressed relief that information about her death could finally be shared with the public and her family.
