Adrian Grenier will not be reprising his role as Nate in "The Devil Wears Prada 2." The sequel, arriving nearly 20 years after the original film, features returning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

Return of Original Cast

The sequel picks up with Miranda Priestly navigating the decline of print media while crossing paths again with Emily, now a powerful executive. The film is set to release on May 1, 2026.

Grenier's Absence Explained

Adrian Grenier isn't returning for the sequel. Though there was an initial consideration for a cameo, it didn't happen. Grenier noted that fan criticism of Nate might have influenced this decision. Director David Frankel cited timing issues as the reason for his absence.

Nate's Role in the Original Film

In the 2006 film, Grenier played Nate Cooper, Andy Sachs’ boyfriend who grew frustrated with her work priorities. Their relationship ends but leaves room for reconciliation by the movie’s conclusion.

Despite not being part of "The Devil Wears Prada 2," Grenier humorously addressed his character's exclusion in a recent Starbucks ad linked to the sequel's promotion.
