Adrian Grenier, who played Nate in the original 'The Devil Wears Prada,' is not returning for the upcoming sequel. This absence raises questions and rekindles discussions about his character's role in the first film.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 is set to debut on May 1, 2026, featuring returning stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The plot follows Miranda Priestly as she navigates modern media challenges and reunites with Emily Blunt's character, now a fashion executive.

Adrian Grenier's Role in 'The Devil Wears Prada'

In the original movie, Grenier portrayed Nate Cooper, Andy Sachs’ boyfriend. As a chef in New York, he initially supported Andy’s fashion career but grew frustrated as her job strained their relationship.

Nate and Andy's Relationship

Nate and Andy break up during the film due to relational tensions but reconnect towards the end. This leaves their future together open-ended.

Reasons for Nate's Absence

Grenier is not part of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Although early development considered a cameo for him, it was ultimately left out. Grenier mentioned that fan criticism of his character might have influenced this decision.

Director David Frankel cited timing issues as the reason for excluding Nate from the sequel. A cameo was planned but couldn't be accommodated within the production schedule.
